I can’t believe that we have been married for 4 months already? I thought it would be good to do a post about things we have learnt since we got hitched!

There are still letters coming through with our old surname on

It’s so hard to remember every little thing to change your name on, your driving license and bank is easy but electoral roll and TV license are not really things you remember until you get a weird reminder.

You still find you say ‘Girlfriend’ or ‘Partner’ instead of Wife.

It’s still weird to say Wife but it still gives a little flutter of excitement when I do remember.

We’re thinking of boring things, like life insurance and wills

Suddenly you realise you have a ‘family’, however small. Your unit is now your most important thing and you feel so much more protective.

The big day is already a distant memory

Yes it’s only 4 months but it really is over in a flash. You analyse all the good stuff and you still want to do it all again!

Your dresses still haven’t been to the dry cleaners

Not yet prepared to send them to the dry cleaners so they are hung up…waiting to go…when we can part with them.

There is still plenty of your wedding day perfume left

It was a big bottle, it’ll never run out, will it?

The honeymoon period is a real thing

We’re still currently floating on air from the day and 4 months on it feels like it couldn’t possibly be any different.

It has been a glorious 4 months and of course we are so very happy that we did decide to get married.

And for those that keep asking ‘So, how’s married life then?’ I will keep responding ‘Brilliant, recommend it to everyone!’

What did you learn after you got married? Do you still get stuff with your old surname on too?

We have been so shocked at how quickly this year has gone and how it’s already Autumn so decided that we would share our Autumn Favourites and do our first giveaway with them all.

The first thing in our favourites has to be our Bullet Journal. We have enjoyed putting this together and have written a post on this and spoken about it many times in our Vlogs. Check out the post here. After attempting the bullet journal with lots of different notebooks we ended up buying the bullet journal favourite, the Leuchtterm1917 dotted notebook.

For those that have been following us for a while you will know that we love to play games, cards is one of our favourites and wordsearches (as you will find out in this post here). During the Autumn, when it starts to get darker we start to really enjoy bringing out the playing cards and spending hours playing different games, Switch, Patience, Kulooki, all games we have played since we were young and even solitaire when we want to have some quiet time.  As the nights draw closer this Autumn being inside, cosy and playing games is definitely one of our favourite things.

If you have followed our YouTube vlogs (the playlist is here) you’ll know that it is primarily my channel and her main passion is beauty and makeup so we decided to pick a makeup favourite each and a joint beauty favourite for the Autumn. Claire’s is the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. She has long, straight lashes and finds this mascara has been a game changer for her.

My favourite has to be a lipstick and with the launch of Kat Von D in Debenhams I couldn’t not pick one of her everlasting liquid lipsticks as a favourite. I now have 5 of them but the one that I keep cracking out for the warm autumnal looks I am creating has to be Lolita II. This is a beautiful terracotta nudey rosey colour (probably the most unique colour) this would probably suit most skin tones and is just the right side of warm not to make your teeth look yellow.

Our joint beauty favourite has to be the Youth Maximising Serum by Avon which was an accidental find. Each of us got a bottle on offer and ever since using it our skin has never been better. It just plumps the skin up and smooths it out. This is especially good for those with normal to dry skin regularly and maybe for all skin types once the winter weather comes in.

This week my wife and I have had a super busy week. We spent a few days in Bonnie Scotland to get away from our stairs being decorated.
During this week I feel like I’ve had a few revelations that I’d like to share with you …
1) Scotland’s chip shops do not, I repeat, do not serve mushy peas with your fish supper!
Processed with VSCO
Now perhaps many of you knew this already but imagine my dismay upon Leah’s return to the caravan during our stay in Scotland last week, when there were no peas!
As a self proclaimed fussy eater (not that’s you’d tell much!) I have to work up to a meal. I think about what to order and then imagine myself eating said order. Once that is in my head, any deviation from this is far worse than Hangry Claire. I can’t let it go. I also refuse to enjoy my meal even though perhaps I can cope with dry fish and chips.
So in fact I have learnt 2 things here. Not only do Scotland not do mushy peas, I am also pretty annoying. Many apologies to my wife…although she MUST have known this prior to marrying me!
2) Leah is abnormally good at wordsearches!
Processed with VSCO
To most people the thought of being a 30 something person with the world at your feet may be bored to tears at the thought of a wordsearch but we love them!
Leah and I buy identical wordsearch books and we race to the finish! My sisters and I used to do this when we were younger and the tradition just lives on!
No matter how distracted Leah gets (she even took Rupert out to do his business mid game) she still wins! I like to think I’m pretty good at them but for every 1 I win, Leah wins 8 more. It’s weird and freaky just how fast she is. I refer to the situation as weird and freaky to hide every ounce of envy and sore loser-ness I feel each time!
3) That new carpet smell is not as strong as I remember.
Processed with VSCO
Today we had a new stairs and landing carpet fitted thanks to the generosity of our wedding guests. The carpet is plush and lovely and we have taken our socks off just to marvel in the comfort of the new carpet  (even finding excuses to nip upstairs when we really didn’t need to).
At the same time we are decorating and all I can smell is gloss. I hope and pray that this is the only reason I can’t smell ‘new carpet’ and that the joy of this smell lives on in many other homes. Sad times. I will just have to visit the carpet shop after work each day for the next 2 weeks to get my money’s worth of ‘smell’
4) Rupert, our 4 year old Chocolate Lab, is not only adorable in every single way but he’s now become a fan of Elvis Presley.
1474296239348
You may have seen our 5 year old niece in one of our vlogs, singing an Elvis song, guitar in hand and a voice like an, erm, angel?! …Well Rupert can now do the raised Elvis lip… I see a duo in the making here!
5) the new walkers crisp sandwich flavours? Cheese, cucumber and salad cream? No. Just No.

When did this happen? When? How did we become adults? What changed? Why didn’t anyone tell me that becoming an adult meant that we had to do adult things without being prepped for them? Well in order to prepare you if you’re thinking you might be an adult soon or you have also had it thrust upon you, like we have we have come up with the Top 5 things they don’t tell you about Adulting!

a plastic box containing domestic cleaning products, sprays, rubber gloves and cloths

95% of your spare time is taken up by cleaning

If you want a tidy home you are basically cleaning constantly. You may know by now that I am not a naturally tidy person but I try and it feels like it is constant. Every day, washing, cleaning plates away. hoovering, making the bed, cleaning ALL. THE. TIME. It’s something you don’t think about until you’re an adult. Mainly as people come round and judge your house if you’re an adult and it isn’t clean and tidy. The reason I know this is because if I go to someone’s house and it’s messier than I could ever be I judge them…. however it really does have to be a hoarders house before that happens…!

a bright yellow risk of electric shock warning triangle

You catch yourself saying adult sayings

‘Put that down’ ‘Pick that up’ ‘You’ll have someone’s eye out’ ‘careful on those stairs’

These are the sayings we heard (and possibly ignored) when we were young.   We thought we were being moaned or nagged at but now we’re an adult we are saying them even more.

digital music recording and playback from a computer

Music gets louder and more like ‘noise’

I LOVE new music, I love discovering artists but lately I have listened less to Radio 1 and more to Radio 4 (extra) so it’s not too noisy. Don’t get me wrong, I love acoustic music and anyone with an interesting voice and a fab melody will have me cracking out my old £5 guitar and having a go at the song myself but then there are days when there is a song on and I think it’s just a load of old noise that just isn’t that good. I find myself thinking that the songs I listened to when I was a teenager were the pinnacle of the pop scene. Of course this is an era that had Mr Blobby as a number one so this most usually is a fleeting thought.

Decorating and making home improvements is exciting

Getting a new fridge or new carpet or another duvet set really is exciting. How did this happen? How did I get to the stage that stuff for the house got more exciting than stuff for me!?! Just having the hall, stairs and landing carpet laid has been the highlight of our month.

Seeing 3am is not because you’re out clubbing

In our house if I am still awake at 3am it’s one of two things; a YouTube video hasn’t uploaded properly or the dog has decided to eat/drink something he shouldn’t have and I am worried about him and am on the phone to the emergency vets every half hour. There was a time I used go out and come home when the sun rose. If I am awake after Midnight it might be because I had some rich food or because I am typing a blog post.

Have you got to that point in your life when you realise you’re an ‘adult’?

Do you find Adulting hard?
